Samir Hazra was born on the 2nd of August, 1984 in West Bengal from Ranjit Hazra and Susama Hazra.  Coming from a talented family of theather actors; however, his father and uncle’s abilities were of painters.  Samir had the inclination towards acting but he couldn't develop much acting skills into this path.  By the grace of God, he got the special gift which is of painting.

In 1986, still at a very young age, he started to design and paint.  He remembers some incidents during his early childhood that he was not so good in school.  He would draw pictures in books and note books; therefore, the teachers punished him for drawing pictures.  He had no inspiration from anyone to draw; nevertheless, he kept drawing and never stopped.

At home, he had pressure studying and instead he used the time for drawing pictures of great patriots such as Subhash Chandra Bose, Ravindra Nath Tagore, Kazi Nasrul Islam, and Swami Vivekanand, etc.

After his admission into the “Guidance of Art School”, in 1996, his parents began to show interest in his art.  He followed in the footsteps of his cousin dada, Prashant, who is a great artist.  Under the guidance of his cousin and of his school, he started to draw at railway stations.  Although he studied and did his practice in the Art School, he never graduated neither received a diploma.

A year later, he began to teach in the Art School and made art designs for sarees and posters in Kolkata.

On December, 1998, at the age of 19, he left Kolkata and went to Mumbai to expand his art career.  His trip was not successful on one hand and he went back to Kolkata within 4 months.  On the other hand, he does not regret his experience.  The reason was during his stay in Kolkata, he joined "Studio Artist Company” - Cinema Studio and he worked for the company for 4 months.  He gained lots of experience as a young painter which in term will help him in his profession.

In his spare time, he visited great Art exhibitions and have seen varieties of arts as well as studied books to gain experience and knowledge that will contribute later on to his works and paints.

Destiny took a turn for his life, when he left Kolkata to go to Rishikesh, he got his 1st painting order.  His joy knew no bounds and by the blessings of the Gods and his parents, he began to receive orders from all over India as well as abroad from foreign countries.

Besides painting, he started to write short stories such as Abhagi Laxmi (Unfortunate Laxmi), Premankane Baluka char (Love drawing on beach), and Aakash Ganga (Celestial Ganga).  His writings were published in an American/Bengali magazine called Ananda Bikash. Amongst some of his hobbies, he likes to see the sunset clouds. Moreover, he likes to listen Kishor Kumar and Ravindra Sangeet as their music inspires him when he paints.

One of his wishes is to make paintings of Ravindra Sangeet.

Of all the things that has happened in his life, he has the great desire to live in Radhakund as it's the top most spiritual place in the world and his inspired devotion to Radha and Krishna is growing day by day.

Although his paints are not famous yet, neither recognized to be a great painter but the years will tell the destiny of this talented young man.
